NEW Chianti Classico DOCG Riserva Vignalparco 2022

Color: Deep ruby with purple reflections. Dense, with a translucent rim, the full expression of ripe Sangiovese from a warm, concentrated year.

Nose: Dark cherry, ripe plum, cedar, baking spices, dried violets. A faint mineral edge from the galestro soil of Casa Emma. Opens fully after 30 minutes of air.

Palate: Full-bodied and generous, with more freshness and grip than the 2022 vintage’s reputation suggests. Fine-grained tannins, long finish of dark fruit, spice, and iron.

Serve: 18–20°C. Decant 30 minutes minimum.

Bistecca alla Fiorentina, wild boar ragù, grilled lamb chops, aged cheese, porcini mushroom risotto, slow-braised short ribs.

The wine’s structured tannins and natural acidity make it a natural partner for grilled and braised red meats. The mineral, cedary notes in the 2022 find a particular affinity with wild boar and porcini mushrooms, dishes from the same Tuscan landscape the wine comes from.

The Vignalparco has been farmed without tractors or synthetic inputs since 2015. A permanent flock of 80 domestic geese works the land year-round: they fertilize the soil naturally, eat the grass between vine rows, and eliminate harmful insects. The result is a biologically active soil with deeper root systems and a mineral complexity that conventional farming cannot replicate.

Excellent now. Peak window 2027–2031, when the tannins will have fully integrated and the mineral character of the galestro soil comes forward. Holds well through 2034.
