Description
The 2021 is here, and it’s exactly what we hoped for. Montalcino delivered a near-perfect season: warm and dry through summer, cool and measured through harvest, and Gli Allori made the most of it. Dark cherry, dried rose petals, leather, tobacco, cedar, iron and mountain earth. On the palate, full-bodied and impeccably precise, with fine-grained tannins and a freshness that will carry this wine comfortably into the 2040s. The finish is long, layered and quietly unforgettable.
This is Brunello at its most compelling: drinking beautifully right now, and built to evolve for decades. You don’t have to choose between opening it tonight and investing in something exceptional. With the 2021, you get both.
A dry-aged ribeye is the classic move, and it earns that reputation every time. For something more deliberate, a slow-braised wild boar ragù will match its depth perfectly. Before dinner, a wedge of aged cheese is all it needs. However you come to it, this wine will meet you there.
The 2021 Gli Allori is Brunello made the way it has always been made here — no shortcuts, no concessions. After 20 days of maceration in stainless steel, the wine spends 36 months in large Slavonian oak casks, the traditional vessel of Montalcino, before a final 12 months of bottle refinement. A process that cannot be rushed, and a result that shows exactly why it’s worth the wait.
Allocation is limited. Once it’s gone, the 2021 won’t come around again.
